Yesterday we had 2 different stripers caught off the Brigantine surf. This picture has Jim and Maggie Conell catching a 13 pound striper and we also had a 30 inch striper caught by John Kenderdine on a king fish rig with a blood worm. I'm thinking that these are two of our residential fish that decided that the waters are so warm out front that they were hunting for some food out front. I know they will catch stripers all summer long in the back bays but off the surf really surprised me. The king fish are still plentiful and there are some blues mixed in. The South end jetty has been giving up some trigger fish and there are tons of flounder out there to catch and release.
The weather looks like we are going to get hit with a quick storm in the next hour but it should be clear after that.
Don't forget that next Saturday is the Hooked on Fishing Not Drugs kids fishing tournament and it will be held at the 42nd st lot, the same place we had it last year. Sign-ups will start at 8:00 am and the Brigantine Municipal Alliance will put on another GREAT event. There will be plenty of free food and drinks for all who participate.
Thanks and good luck
Capt Andy
